THE FIVE PILLARS IN ISLAM

The Five Pillars

Faith
PILLARS IN ISLAM
Faith is the most important pillar of Islam. Without the right faith may deeds have no meaning in this world, but not in the afterlife. Therefore, only works with the right intention, namely, for the sake of Allah, give rise to great expectations in the next life. The believers who do good, whether they are men or women, have been promised a clean and good life after death (Qur'an, 16:97). Conversely, people who perform good deeds without proper faith will not be rewarded in the next life. Simply because they do not believe the person who is to reward on the Day of Judgment.
Most people have a belief or ideology that they have inherited from their parents or accepted by a society. Such a belief or ideology may not necessarily lead a person to the right intention behind the actions that can make the person happy in the next life. Therefore it is important for every person to consider and to think deeply about their faith.
In the above hadith is the creed of the first pillar of Islam. When a person testifies that there is no deity but Allah (swt) and bear witness that Muhammad (saw) is the Messenger of Allah, he / she is a Muslim. Such a declaration should come from the heart with conviction about Allah's existence and therefore a person can not be compelled to become a Muslim.
There is no compulsion in religion. The right way is clearly separated from error. Whoever rejects idols and believes in Allah has grasped the trustworthy handle, which never fails. God hears and knows. (Qur'an, 2:256)
In reality, people do not know Allah (swt) using the five senses, but there are many characteristics around which can lead people to believe in Allah's existence. A Muslim believes in Allah (swt) that is invisible to the person, yet such a decision logic and can be justified.
There is no doubt that humans have a limited capacity to sense. We can, for example, just look within a limited range. Moreover, people's thinking ability and ideas depending on their background, observations, knowledge, experiences, etc. A proof of this is that people have different understanding of their God. Nevertheless, it is interesting to note that most believe in some higher power that is enough a sign of Allah's existence.
Since it is difficult for people to form an accurate picture of Allah (swt), they need guidance. At the same time they also need guidance to understand what Allah (swt) wants people to do. Such guidance need not only in theory but also in practice to make it easier for people to understand and practice for guidance. According to Islam, Allah chose some people to this mission and the message revealed to them. Prophets or Messengers were sent to mankind to tell them about who the Creator is and what He will. Some people have accepted while others have rejected this message from Allah. A Muslim believes in all the prophets from Adam to Muhammad (saw) without making any distinction between them (see Qur'an, 2:136).
Muhammad (saw) is the last Prophet of Allah (swt) to all mankind, received revelations that have been preserved in its original form in the Qur'an. It is important to note that only the Quran exists in its original form. Prophet's own speech and custom, known as Sunnah or Hadith is written in several books. Both the Qur'an and Sunnah are the basic sources of understanding Islam. It is important to remember that all Muslims do not necessarily consistent with Islam because most people do not always practice their religion in the whole and this also applies to Muslims.
According to the Quran and Sunnah, a Muslim believe in the following six articles of faith:

Allah (swt):
There is no deity but Allah (swt). Allah (swt) has no children, parents or relatives. No creature similar to Han. On the contrary, Allah (swt) creator of the perfect, beautiful, and systematic world where things work according to certain laws and regulations. He has peculiarities as the creator of everything, the Omniscient, the living, the one source of care, the most merciful, the most Forgiving and the most Merciful. No humans or other creatures are Allah's or caregiver. To equate anyone with Allah (swt) or believe that someone else has similar characteristics as Allah (swt) is the greatest sin.

Prophets:
Allah (swt) has sent prophets to guide mankind to the right faith and right path in all eras in different steder.Disse prophets had the same basic principles and purposes despite some differences in rules of life in their communities. They lived exemplary lives among his people and set an example for them. Many events of prophets life is depicted in the Qur'an lessons and guidance to mankind. Prophet Muhammad (saw) is the last prophet and there is no new prophet or messenger of Allah (swt) for him. His life is the best example for all mankind.

H ellige fonts:

Allah (swt) has revealed His will to people several times. According to Islam you believe in all the scriptures that were revealed to the prophets. The latest revelation to Prophet Muhammad (saw) is preserved in the Quran. Today the Quran is the only authentic divine guidance that is available to mankind. It was written in the prophet's time and learned by heart by Muslims to this day. The Qur'an contains signs for those who think, and find the truth. It provides basic principles for a successful life both in society and in life after death.

E ngler:
D to a belief in angels is also part of the Islamic faith. Angels are not Allah's sons or daughters but Allah's creatures that do not have free will like humans. They praise Allah (swt) and follow Allah's laws to the letter. The angels bowed to Adam when he was created and thus has no advantage over people as long as people live by divine guidance. Engler is a part of the world of the unseen which we can not comprehend. Allah (swt) has told us about them in many places in the Qur'an and through His Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. It follows a number of proven reports of angels, which will hopefully make you realize the greatness of the Creator and the greatness of this religion which has told us so much about them.

Life after death:

This world, or life, a trial will end after a certain period. There is another eternal life after death. On the Day of Judgment all people will be held accountable for their actions in this life. The people who believe in Allah and do good in accordance with divine guidance will be rewarded. People who refuse to believe in Allah (swt) and do iniquity to be punished. The fact is that we can not understand the meaning of life without believing in life after death. People can neither punish all those who do misdeeds or reward heroes. According to Islamic teaching, Allah (swt) reward or punish people in a fair manner on the Day of Judgment.
Qadar:
Everything that happens in this world is not by chance but by the will of Allah. He knows about both the good and the evil. This world operates according to certain laws and regulations, and can not deviate from these rules. Humans, however, has been given the freedom to decide on their actions.

It is natural to think that there will be differences between a believer and non-believer in their actions. A non-believer is not bound to anything and can act freely in this life. The believer, however, has given themselves to Allah (swt) and are willing to follow His laws. Since these two decide to act differently in life, it is natural to believe that the consequences of their actions will be different on the Day of Judgment.
Faith is not something fixed, but increases and decreases. This compares with professional knowledge. If you are in touch with their subjects and books to increase knowledge, otherwise forget one eventually what you have learned. In the same way, faith will increase if you do something to improve it, otherwise it decreases gradually. Therefore, Islam has the other pillars that support the first pillar. These help to strengthen faith, to freshen up and clean the interior of a human being, and to provide tranquility and peace of mind. However, it should be noted that a change in life does not come suddenly but it takes work and self-control to change their attitudes, behaviors and habits. Below we'll look at the other columns, what they entail, what their purpose is, and what effects these columns can have on a man's life both spiritually and physically.

Prayer
The second pillar of Islam is prayer, salah in Arabic. Salah means to turn, to approach, or to pray. In Islam, salah one way to address, to approach, or to pray to Allah (swt). Every Muslim is obliged to pray in a certain way five times a day. Call to prayer from a mosque (if allowed in public rooms) reminds one about prayer time. To perform the prayer must be pure ritual and there are specific rules for how to wash themselves. This cleansing is called wudu. After wudu be any men pray in a mosque in a congregation and women can either be in a mosque or at home. It is important to note that a Muslim can pray anywhere on Earth with the condition that it is clean. The prayer must be performed as best as Prophet Muhammad (saw) did in his life, or so he explained.

When Muslims gather for common prayer there is no difference between them because of wealth, color or race. Those who come first in the mosque can set in the first instance and those who come later should stand in the rear ranks. So there are no reserved seats for rich people or society stops. This is the best example of Islam's clear stand against discrimination and racism between people. One who has good knowledge of Islam and piety can lead the prayer and called Imam. To lead a prayer need not a special degree or education. Yet he must know about the basics of Islam, in particular how the prayer is performed.
The intention behind the works is the core of Islam. With the right intention, a Muslim prayer begin with the words Allahu Akbar - Allah (swt) is the greatest. After praising a Muslim Allah (swt), recite the Quran, seek forgiveness, ask the right guidance, and seek Allah's blessings and peace. There are different positions during prayer such as standing, deflecting, kneeling (Sajdah) and seated (see Figure). These positions remind people about their nothingness in comparison to Allah's greatness. The prayer ends with a wish for peace and blessings of Allah (swt).
Prayer is a completely natural way to bow to Allah (swt) on. It is common that most people pray to a higher power, whether in an emergency or when they have achieved something that they are thankful for. A Muslim is required to be the natural way to fulfill their spiritual needs daily. One can imagine how it is possible to pray five times a day with so much fuss. Islam is first and foremost a practical religion and thus there is some exception rules that make it easier to practice Islam. For example, a washing himself to pray. If you have no water to wash there is another ritual way to cleanse yourself without water called Tayammum. If you get into a situation where it is not possible to perform the prayer one can pray at the first opportunity. A sick person can be sitting or lying on demand.
Below mentioned are some verses from the Qur'an that explains the purpose and benefits of prayer:
  • That said, prayer is a way to approach Allah on, especially in the Sajdah position. "Fall down in prayer and came (your God) in close." (Qur'an, 96:19)
  • There is only one God and He should people worship. Prayer is a beautiful and natural way to worship and remember the one God in the hectic everyday life. "I am God. There is no God except Me. So serve Me, - and appetizer prayer for My remembrance" (Quran 20:14)
  • One of the benefits of prayer is purity of body and clothing. There are detailed rules about this in fiqh books. The following verse highlights some important points, "O you who believe, when you rise for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbow. Wipe over your head and wash your feet up to the ankles. If you are unclean and make ablution ..." (Qur'an 5:6)
  • Prayer keeps indecency and evil away from people. "Recite what has been revealed to you of the Scripture, and perform the prayer! Prayer keeps indecency and evil away. Coming remembrance God is the greatest. And God knows what you make of you." (Qur'an, 29:45)
There are also many other verses in the Qur'an related to prayer. The essence is that prayer is to lead people closer to Allah (swt), people will come to Allah (swt) in mind, they can find spiritual peace in prayer, they can discipline themselves by asking the right times, they can thank their Creator for all the received, and they can pray to Allah (swt) about their wishes fulfilled. The beans are done with the right intention and godliness strengthen faith while they prevent people from doing misdeeds in life. When one prays five times a day with the belief that Allah (swt) sees everywhere, the greatest is just and will judge everyone according to their deeds on the Day of Resurrection, they will stay away from misdeeds. When one prays five times a day with the belief that Allah (swt) sees everywhere, the greatest is just and will judge everyone according to their deeds on the Day of Resurrection, they will stay away from misdeeds. If this does not happen there maybe something wrong with prayer execution and one should think about this.
In addition to the daily prayers, there are other prayers for special occasions. Some of the most important is the Friday prayer, id prayer, trawih prayer in Ramadan and praying for the dead before burial.
Fasting
Fasting is the third pillar of Islam and is called sawm in Arabic. Fixed means refraining from eating, drinking, smoking and having sexual intercourse during Lent. The Islamic Lent begins just before dawn and ends immediately after sunset. All Muslims are required to fast during Ramadan month except children and those who are mentally retarded. There are exceptions to the rules for the sick, the elderly, travelers, women in the menstrual period, etc.
The prayer is performed daily for the fulfillment of the spiritual needs while fasting completed each year during Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. There is a night this month called Lailat al-Qadr and this night is worth more than a thousand months following the Koran (Quran, 97:3). Ramadan means that Muslims have a great opportunity to strengthen their relationship with Allah (swt) for a whole month every year. It becomes a spiritual environment, the mosques are full of people, people recite the Quran, and trawih prayers are held in the evenings. In this way, Muslims gearing up to meet the challenges of the rest of the year in the best possible way.
Some important elements of fasting is described in these verses:
"O you who believe, it is prescribed to you fixed, as it was prescribed those who lived before you, - that you may become righteous -, some specific days. If someone is ill or on a journey, then a number of other days. Those who are able to fast, can ransom the feeding of the poor. But if whoever volunteers (so) good deed, it is better for him. Yet, that ye fast is better for you if ye only knew. In month of Ramadan, where the Quran was revealed, a guidance for mankind, also clear words, which Criterion wrongly and justice - those of you who are present in that month shall fast in it. If anyone is ill or on a journey, he fixed a number of other days. God will make it easy for you, not hard, and so you can finish the day's, - that ye may glorify God because He leads you, - that ye may give thanks. " (Qur'an, 2:183-185)

Muslims can usually eat and drink mostly found on earth, but certain things are forbidden to consume, eg. alcohol. In Ramadan, many permissible things forbidden by day. This is a test of whether one is willing to refrain from what Allah (swt) prohibits and will do what Allah (swt) commands. It is very important to remember that Allah (swt), who is omniscient, not require or forbid things for people without a good intention and purpose. As it appears from the above verse, the purpose of fasting that Muslims are pious. Those who are godly lives his life in accordance with the guidance from Allah (swt). They are fair to his fellow man, humble in his manners, giving help to the needy, and transgress not the limits set by Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saw). What kind of society can we imagine there really godly people live? Yes, a peaceful and ideal society.
In Ramadan, Muslims may learn self-restraint, tolerance, obedience to Allah (swt) and they might consider changing their behaviors. During fasting, it is important that a fasting considering its behavior in relation to their eyes, ears, tongue and other body parts. A fasting might ask: Is my behavior consistent with divine guidance or not? The purpose of fasting is not starving us, but the point is to guide us to a good life both in this world and the Hereafter. In addition to this, fasting is good for the body. Some will think how on earth is it possible to complete this requirement. Allah (swt) requires usually nothing more than human power (Qur'an, 2:286).
Therefore, there are various exemptions for those individuals who are unable to fast. Ordinary people have an incredible strength to complete this requirement. It is also a great pleasure when a complete fast. This can also create a sense of gratitude to Allah (swt) that has given people numerous benefits.
Another aspect of Ramadan is that rich people can feel what it's like to be hungry and thirsty. This is an experience that can remind them of the needy everyday. This motivates the rich to help the poor in society. People are far more generous in Ramadan than in other months, and it's good for humanity if this generosity continues throughout the year. It is very interesting to note how Islam encourages, motivates and compensates for Lent so that it comes to good for the poor in society. Here are some examples:
  • According to a hadith the Prophet said Muhammad (saw), that the server food to break the fast for a fasting Muslim will get the same reward as the fasting.
  • In some cases, it served meal or given a certain amount to the poor to compensate for Lent.
  • It paid zakat al-fitr (a specific amount or quantity of grain) to poor few days before the id al-fitr. This means that the poor can participate in graduation which is celebrated on the 1st Shawal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.
Finally celebrated the id al-fitr just because one has completed his duty in Ramadan. The celebration also a cultural touch in different countries. It is truly a joyous day for Muslims where all rich and poor have the opportunity to party and be with family and friends. The big event is the id prayer where most Muslims are helping to thank their Creator and ask forgiveness in the community. One can meet many acquaintances that are otherwise difficult to hit because of the hectic everyday life. Prayer should be carried out in open spaces or large halls. After the prayer, the party can continue with good food, visits, joint meetings or other activities tailored to the community.
Zakah
The ritual contribution, zakat in Arabic, paid annually to the poor in society. Today we are witnessing that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer in most societies. This greed has become widespread in many societies in the past. Zakah is an economic measures to help the poor in society. Islam encourages Muslims greatly to use their money to help fellow human beings who are in a difficult situation. Those who have a certain amount of money / property for one year beyond their everyday needs, is required to pay zakat on two and a half percent of the sum and not necessarily of profits (see fiqh books for details). This is the minimum amount to be paid by the rich to the poor, but this is neither the tax from the state or a hindrance to pay more to the needy. Muslims are encouraged and motivated to give more to the needy in many cases this is known as Sadaqa.
One of the questions is why one should give money to others when this money is earned with so much toil and using their own resources or effort? It should be remembered that all of our resources and capabilities to serve the financial resources given by Allah (swt). Just think of the value of your eyes, ears and brain! We can never put a price on all that we have received free from the Merciful Allah (swt). In other words, what we have are somehow given by Allah (SWT) to us. By providing these accumulated funds, which we have earned with the help of Allah given resources, we can both help our fellow human beings and attain Allah's favor. Thus Islam encourages Muslims to help the needy, both open and hidden. The dealer should give zakat only for Allah's sake. This means that neither will remind the recipient of the contribution or wish for any service or any benefit in return. There are many verses in the Quran concerning zakat and sadaqa. Here are some of them:
  • Those who establish regular prayers and spend out of what We have given them the right believers (Qur'an, 8:3-4).
  • "You can not reach the right piety until you spend of that which is dear to you. Whatever you give, Allah knows it." (Qur'an, 3:92)
  • A very interesting comparison of how Allah (swt) increase the rewards for those who give for the sake of Allah. "It is with them that gives the owner the cause of God, that with a grain, which gives seven ears with a hundred grains in every . because God gives it, he will multiply. God is grand - show. " (Qur'an, 2:261)
  • The intention behind the action is very important. The following verse illustrates this: "O you who believe, do not make your gifts to nothing by pulling it forward or curses, - as one who gives away some of her to be seen by people, but do not believe in Allah and the Last Judgment Today., he is like a smooth stone slab, covered with soil. comes the abundant rain, and it bare. Such has accomplished nothing with his (apparently) meritorious action. Allah does not guide the disbelieving people. " (Quran 2:264)
  • To give away their assets is one way to clean their property, funds and souls. (Qur'an, 9:103 and 92:17-20)
  • Those who are entitled to receive this money / funds mentioned in the following verse: "Almissegavene is for the poor and needy, for those who work with them, to those whose hearts shall be reconciled to frikjøping of slaves and debtors, to promote Allah and the wayfarer. This is God regulations. Allah knows - is wise. " (Qur'an, 9:60)
We humans are concerned with material things and most people want to live a life of luxury. To raise more money and property it is easy to forget the norms and rules of society. To counter this mindset laws of Islam reward to those who use their funds in the above areas and warns of punishment for those who do not. It is also important to mention that Allah (swt) did not see the amount / size of a give away for His sake, but the intention behind the action. Therefore, anyone can use their money for good causes by their financial ability. In this way, their hearts be purified and they can hope for a better life both in this life and the next.
This column can build a society where rich and poor live side by side in peace. They help each other instead of working against each other. The rich do not exploit the poor or disadvantaged people to become richer themselves. On the other side is not the poor jealous or envious of the wealth of others. Everyone should be happy with what they have received and thank the Merciful Allah (swt).
Hajj
Islam requires all Muslims traveling to the Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) once in a lifetime if they can afford it. As described above, the daily prayers one way to approach Allah (swt) on the day and month of fasting, Ramadan is an opportunity to turn to Allah in every year. Many Muslims, like other people, are so busy in daily chores that they forget Allah (swt) and His guidance. By imposing Hajj Islam gives them an opportunity to turn to Allah (swt) in this life.
Historically Kabah not a place that was first built by Prophet Muhammad (saw), but a place that has been sacred to the people before him. People in the Arab world traveled to Mecca on pilgrimage before Islam, but gradually became rituals changed by people's own needs. One example of these changes is that they changed the time of the pilgrimage so that it would suit them in Mecca. Prophet Muhammad (saw) introduced Hajj rituals in keeping with divine guidance and Muslims follow the practice today.
Each year over two million Muslims on hajj to Mecca. Most people have the ability to be happy with his behavior and manner of life. When they go out of their little world to Allah's house, they can see the signs of Allah with their own eyes. They also consider their behavior in relation to divine guidance. You also get the opportunity to get rid of bad habits and lack of culture. This can be an experience you never forget. The people who come back from Hajj has a strong desire to travel again despite difficulties in the implementation of the rituals.
Below mentioned are some verses that describe different aspects of Hajj and history:
  • "The first House founded for mankind is that in Mecca, blessed and a guidance for the worlds. Herein is clear evidence of Abraham, space and security for whoever treads it. It is the duty of the people toward God to go pilgrimage to the House, as long as they can resort to it. If someone is unbelief, God is self sufficient and do not need the world. " (Qur'an, 3:96-97)
  • "Pilgrimage will take place in specific months. Whoever these decide to make the pilgrimage, must abstain from intercourse with women, evil conduct and argument. Whatever you make of the well know God. Provide travel gear.'s Top travel gear is godliness. Fear me , ye men of understanding. " (Qur'an, 2:197)
  • "Call mankind to pilgrimage, and they will come to you on foot and on lean (camels) from every deep pass, to witness what is good for them, and mention the names of specific days of the (sacrificial) cattle, which He has given them. Eat thereof and feed the wretched poor. let them perform personal care (neglected during pilgrimage), fulfill their votivløfter, and walking around the old house. " (Qur'an, 22:27-29)
  • "The places Safa and Marwa (in Mecca) is God's landmarks. And for the person performing the large or the small pilgrimage ritual there is nothing in the way that he makes a round sometime around both. Whoever volunteers good deed, God is appreciative - Knowing. " (Qur'an, 2:158)
In a hadith the Prophet said:
O people. Allah (swt) has enjoined upon you Hajj, so perform Hajj. Whoever does Hajj for Allah's sake, do not have intercourse with women, and not commit a sin, then all his sins fall away so when he was born his mother. And the sins of two umrah (a ritual journey to the Ka'bah but is different than the hajj) is forgiven. And frankly Hajj is rewarded only with paradise.
Sins of a Muslim is therefore forgiven if Hajj is performed with the right intention and rituals. A Muslim is just as spiritually pure as when he / she was born. It is important to note that according to Islam all men are born innocent and not sinful.
In Hajj, Muslims are equal in all respects. There is no difference between them because of their race, gender or nationality. They are dressed in white sheets / costumes and perform rituals of hajj. They read talbiya communities that translates to the nearest meaning: Here I am O Allah (swt), here I am. There is no partner with You, here I am. Verily praise, blessing and dominion is yours. There is no partner with you.
Muslims celebrates id al-Adha on the tenth Dhul-Hijja in the form of a giant party. Id day begins with id prayer in the same way as the id al-fitr. In addition to other activities wealthy Muslims sacrifice animals in the name of Allah and give the meat to others. This means that everyone in the community can eat well and party.
Adminstration.
The five pillars of Islam are fundamental to understanding Islam. These pillars are: to testify that there is no deity but Allah (swt) and Muhammad (saw) is His messenger, prayer, zakat, fasting and hajj. The Islamic faith consists of belief, only one God, all the prophets, all the revealed scriptures, life after death, angels and Qadar.
Prayer is a natural way to worship Allah (swt) and it is the best way to approach Allah (swt) on. Muslims are required to pray five times a day. Prayer is also a preventive measure against indecency and evil. Zakah is imposed on Muslims so that the poor and needy receive help in the community. Allah (swt) promises many double reward for those who use their money and resources for the sake of Allah. The dealer should not expect any service back from the receiver. The ritual contribution is also a way to clean properties and souls.
All adult Muslims are required to fast in Ramadan every year. During Lent, the fasting abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and having sexual intercourse. Since Allah (swt) does not demand more than the human powers, there are exemptions for those who are unable to fast. The last pillar of Islam is Hajj. Every Muslim who has the resources to travel on pilgrimage to Mecca once in a lifetime. This is a great event and a great experience because you see the signs of Allah with their own eyes. This is also a great selection that reflects Islam's stance that all people are basically the same and the best in Allah's sight is the most pious.
